Hi Ladies,
Most people think of saving money when you talk about frugal, but what about saving time!
We have had legos in our house for 20 years, passing down from one Son to the next. We purchased the starter kit for our son, Kevin, about 20 years ago. It was a large red box with slots to put assorted pieces in, encouraging imaginative design (no instructions included).
Over the years, for Birthdays and Christmas, we continued to add to the collection. Soccer legos, Mars Mission, Lego city(these come with instructions.
As we begin our Thanksgiving vacation, I once again look at the several boxes of pieces, that have been put together and torn apart a gazillion times. Joel is five and loves to tear apart more than put together. Joseph is 10 and loves to put together, hates when Joel tears apart.
SOOOO!! I will get to the point of all of this chatter! I finally did something I said I would never do. On Friday afternoon, kids home for the holiday week, I purposed a week long lego fest. To pull out the many assorted pieces and once again assemble them, but this time we are super glueing the pieces together.
We have completed 6 objects now, mostly lego racer cars to keep Joel busy, so Joseph and I can build. I have slapped myself several times and said "why did I not do this before?"
Is there something sacred about not glueing the legos? like the Lego Police would come and lock me up!! for some reason in my mind there was. I can't tell you the relief I feel as we continue, Joel is happy to be playing with legos that don't fall apart. My only recommendation is that you do keep extra assorted legos on hand to spur on the imagination building times.
