Safeway's Eating Right Kids! Product Review

Hi Ladies!
I can be a picky Mom in certain areas~good foods for my children is one of them! Eight years ago our family went "Organic", at a time when most people we knew did not have an interest in that kind of thing~We loved the healthier foods, but were shell shocked at the increase in our food budget. Something had to give~ after much research, we bought only the crucial organics & added natural foods as much as possible. We have especially been interested in natural foods for our Son who has Autism & now our 14 month old Foster Daughter who is allergic to corn products. This means I have to do alot of scratch cooking as processed foods are out!!
I was recently thrilled to be introduced to "Eating Right Kids", products created by Safeway and Warner Bros' Looney Tunes, to bring you meals, snacks, cereals and drinks your kids will love~and you'll feel good about. I received a the Eating Right Kids Chewy Bar, Kids Fruit Cup, 100% Apple Juice & Whole Wheat Macaroni & Beef. YUM! delicious, my kids gobbled the chewy bar first and devoured the rest & the best part is they contain NO high fructose corn syrup, so my little ones can enjoy these without the allergy issues! Affordable on a frugal budget!!
Eating right Kids is a full line of foods that not only taste good, but are better for your kids. They have been formulated to standards based on the most recent dietary recommendations and regulations from several federal and state agencies. Why is this important? because we need to have a positive impact on childhood obesity & diabetes.
Warner Bros. consumer Products Division is clearing the store shelves of the majority of foods featuring looney tunes, that do not meet a "better-for-you" standard. Making it easy for Mom's to spot healthy products featuring packages with the logo of your kids favorite Looney Tunes characters. (Bugs, Tweety, Taz, Sylvester, etc)
To learn more about these products, go to www.safeway.com & search under "Eating Right Kids".
Special Thanks goes to
Marie Baker

More Frugal Tips

Hi Ladies,
Before I give you some great Frugal Tips from my Mom! I wanted to say the best tip I ever got from my Mom was Sewing. I truly believe the most valuable frugal asset you could have would be to learn sewing. Think about it! you can make clothes, put buttons back on, hem & let down pants, make pillows, decor items for you home. The possibilities are endless.
My Mom has lived through lean and abundant times which endows her with frugal wisdom.
Back in earlier days, they used to resole their shoes or replace heals instead of buying new ones. Personally, I have done this for my Husbands shoes as he is very picky about the fit of his shoes and when we find a pair he loves, we just resole them.
My Mom got her first Library card when she was 8 years old and has had on ever since. Imagine the amount of money she has saved over the years by borrowing instead of buying. She loves to read so much that she does sometimes buy books, but then she shares them with her friends and they have book parties. Libraries are great for videos, learning DVD's , lot to check out!!
Clothes trading party!! I love this idea. Just get together with your friends to trade out clothes. Items that you may not like, your friend could love.
She loves Artisan bread (those unsliced breads) but they often go stale quick, so rewrap them in the plastic bag that you bring home from the store and get an extra week of freshness. Cut of the ends of the bread for sanitary reasons.
When Gourmet, flavored vinegars are empy, pour regular oil into the bottles. The residue left at the bottom flavors the new vinegar and the flavor last through many refills. Do the same with olive oil.
Bartering is back in style, I will work in your garden, if you will fix my plumbing. There are tons of bartering websites now.
If you spend most of your time on your cell phone, give up your landline and save quite a bit of money.
Have a free inspection done by your power company. Mom did this and they brought free lightbulbs & a list of great energy saving ideas. Big tip: put you electrical items on power strips and then turn off the power strips at night for extra savings.
On groceries. We do buy alot from Costco as we are a family of Five, but for one person like my Mom, bulk buying does not make sense. If you are a smaller family, buy in smaller portions for less waste.
You know those "green bags" you see advertized. If you take your store shopping bags and tightly wrap your items, they work the same way. I take my almost ripe bananas and wrap them tightly in my Walmart bags and they stay fresh longer. As soon as the air hits your fruits and vegetable, they will ripen quicker.
Thanks Mom for the great tips!!!
Be Blessed!
Christine
